Modem Setup

Modem is one of the channel to send SMS in SMS SQUARE

Navigate to Miscellaneous -> Modem Status

    Modem Menu

    There are 3 options:

     

    Modem Log

    Once the modem connected/disconnected to the SMS SQUARE server, it will be detected by

    and a log can be viewed here.

    Currently one SMS SQUARE server can support upto 4 Modems attached to 4 Portals.

    Connection
    Description
    ttyUSB0 Modem 1, Portal 1
    ttyUSB1 Modem 2, Portal 2
    ttyUSB2 Modem 3, Portal 3
    ttyUSB3 Modem 4, Portal 4

     

    Modem Log

    Meaning of the log messages

    Filter
    Description
    usb 2-1: PL-2303 converter now attached to ttyUSBx Modem x is connected
    PL-2303 ttyUSB1: PL-2303 converter now disconnected from ttyUSBx Modem x is disconnected

     

    Modem, SIM Card Status, and Start SMS Daemon

    Once the modem connected, you need to Start the SMS Daemon.

    Modem Status Off

    Once the SMS Daemon started modem & SIM Card status will appear

    Modem Status On

    Meaning of the status

    Status
    Description
    IMEI the Modem IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity)
    Manufacturer Manufacturer of the Modem
    Model Model of the Modem
    Product Name Product Name of the Modem
    Network Name of the Operator
    Network Code GSM Network Code, further reference http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_Network_Code
    RF Signal GSM RF Signal code
    Cell Id Cellular ID, the text usually shown on your mobile
    SMSC SMS Center
    SMS Daemon / Service Status activity and process ID of SMS Daemon / Service

    Checking / Reloading Credit Balance

    If you are using a prepaid GSM card subscription, this feature will come in handy to check/reload the credit balance

    or any USSD related command. (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USSD for further reference)

    Modem Balance Menu

    type the code to check balance, in this example *888#

    Modem Check Balance

    Wait for about 30 seconds and the result will be displayed along with the Signal Quality
